The total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027 in Morocco

The total eclipse of 2 August 2027 crosses northern Morocco in the morning. In Tangier the Sun will be completely covered for 4 min 52 s, from 08:44 to 08:49, Morocco time (GMT); in Tétouan, for 4 min 52 s.

The path of totality comes in from the Atlantic coast, crosses the Strait and the Rif and leaves through the Oriental towards Algeria. 263 of Morocco’s 1,584 places see it, in the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Oriental region, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region and Fes-Meknes region. Elsewhere the eclipse is partial: 98.6% in Rabat, 98.4% in Fez and 97.2% in Casablanca.

Mind the clock: that day Morocco is on GMT, two hours behind mainland Spain, Ceuta and Melilla. And before choosing a spot, read the weather page: on the coast, low morning cloud matters more than a few seconds of totality.
